If you’re looking for something big,
fun, affordable, and different, give Saddleback
Mountain—one of New England’s finest family ski
resorts—a try for your next ultimate ski vacation
destination.
Located on Route 4 near Rangeley, Maine, Saddleback
Mountain’s sheer size is one of its major drawing
features, with the highest base alpine elevation of
all ski areas in the region at 2,460 feet, a top
summit elevation of 4,120 feet with summit
snowfields, as well as an impressive 2,000-foot
vertical drop, which all offer stunning views of the
ski resort, the nearby White Mountains, and the
Rangeley Lakes region. Saddleback also has an annual
snowfall of 200 inches and 85 percent snowmaking
coverage.
You’ll also find 60 fun, unique, and exciting trails
as well as glades, a terrain park, and half-pipe for
all ages and levels, ranging from gentle beginner’s
slopes to rugged, steep, and challenging double
black diamond runs—all on some of Maine’s most
fabulous snowy terrain.
Saddleback Mountain offers around 20 beginner trails
on its more gentle slopes, perfect for children and
first-time skiers of all ages; an equal number of
intermediate trails—a favorite is the “cruiser”
known as the Royal Coachman, located off the
Rangeley double; 12 black diamond courses, which are
more challenging; and for the veteran skiing dare
devil, five spectacular expert trails. Saddleback’s
upper mountain region Kennebago T-bar is home to
many of these more challenging trails with steep and
rugged terrain, including Nightmare Glades and
Warden’s Worry. The longest trail run is more than
three miles long.
However, even with the high elevations and
challenging ski experiences found at Saddleback,
you’ll also find the environment to be very
friendly, warm, inviting, safe, family-focused, and
even a little old-fashioned, in a quaint, nostalgic
way. For example, Saddleback offers programs,
events, and activities for families and children of
all ages throughout its ski season, as well as
on-site day care for when you want to leave the kids
behind so you can try your hand at a more
challenging and difficult trail, or enjoy some of
Saddleback’s amenities and activities, including its
dining options, shops, and live entertainment, for
just the two of you.
Enjoy Saddleback’s new base lodge, complete with
features such as a huge fireplace, sun deck, and the
popular Swig ‘n Smelt Pub to unwind after a long day
of skiing.
You’d be surprised at how well you can afford
everything that Saddleback Mountain has to offer,
from lift tickets (around $40) and rentals to
dining, entertainment, and lodging options. You can
even find specials, discounts, and packages to score
even a better deal for your next family ski
vacation.
If you’re looking for a place to vacation on a
long-term basis, consider purchasing vacation
property near Saddleback Mountain to enjoy all that
this fantastic and surprisingly big ski resort has
to offer season after season. Plus, owning Maine
real estate in this region puts you in proximity to
loads of summer time recreational activities as
well. The Rangeley lakes are some of Maine’s most
beautiful and the quaint towns offer something for
everyone all year long.
